Volvo EX90 Electric

The new EX90 will have a dual-motor engine that will drive all four wheels at launch. The  Volvo Electric Suv Twin Motor Performance version of the EX90 will have 496 horsepower and 671 pound-feet of torque, compared to the ordinary model’s 402 horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque. The Performance variant will accelerate the twin-motor EX90 to sixty miles per hour (mph) in one second less than the basic model’s 5.7 seconds. The car has a 38.7-foot turning circle, air springs, and 15.7/15.4-inch front and rear brakes.

The EX90 uses a 400-volt architecture, and the battery will have a usable capacity of 107.0 kWh, with a targeted range of up to 300 miles. Using a 250.0-kWh connection, the EX90 will be able to charge from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 30 minutes. The car will also come with a Plug and Charge for automated payment at charging stations.

The EX90’s EV architecture will allow for bi-directional charging capability, meaning that the car’s battery could charge your house, either during a power outage or, even to sell battery-stored energy back to the grid during peak hours. Volvo will sell the necessary home hookup and energy management software, although which markets we see this capability in remains to be seen. When away from home, the EX90’s battery can power accessories or lend some juice to another Volvo EV.

Much of the powertrain matches the recently unveiled Polestar 3—the battery capacity, the motors’ torque output, and even the bi-directional charging capability.

Exceeding Safety Boundaries

The EX90 Volvo is said to be “safer than any Volvo car to come before it” and is equipped with a steering-wheel sensor that detects the pilot’s level of attentiveness as well as two cameras focused on the driver. When an in-car radar system detects that a kid or pet is left inside the car, it triggers the climate control system to keep the inside at a suitable temperature, displays a reminder, and stops doors from locking. Additionally, the vehicle has hardware for unsupervised driving and lane-change capability thanks to Volvo’s Pilot Assist technology.

EX90 Design

Compared to the Concept Recharge, the Volvo EX90’s outward design is more akin to an SUV, measuring 198.3 inches in length and 117.5 inches in wheelbase. At 77.3 inches and 68.8 inches lower, the automobile is roughly 1.5 inches wider and 1.5 inches lower. With its rounded grille-less front end, flat door handles and window glass, and independent wheel-cover inserts for improved airflow, the EX90 is said to have a drag coefficient of 0.29. The lidar sensors of the automobile are located in a bulge on the front edge of the roof. The design stays true to Volvo’s current style guide.

A New Interior Concept

The EX90 Volvo EV has a simple dashboard with a wide central touchscreen that is angled vertically for the majority of its functionality. The driver’s digital instrument cluster is housed on a smaller screen on the simplistic dashboard. With a wireless connection, the Google-powered infotainment system enables Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additionally, the vehicle has a panoramic glass roof, which might affect the air conditioning in warmer weather.

The EX90 EV has recyclable materials and leather-free interiors, offering comparable cabin and load volumes as the XC90. It also has a great audio system with Dolby Atmos and a smartphone as a significant feature.
