Precision Crafted Performance

Acura is an upmarket manufacturer established in the U.S. market in 1986 as a separate premium branch of Honda. The brand's early popularity was attributed to its features, performance, premium image, and Honda's track record of dependability and affordable ownership. Acura debuted the all-aluminum NSX sports vehicle in 1991; it undercut rival exotic cars in price while providing performance on par with them. However, the business encountered difficulties when Acura's product lineup expanded in the 1990s. For example, it had to introduce the SLX, which fell short of customer expectations and replace the Legend and Integra names with alphanumeric designations. Acura redesigned its lineup for the new century, bringing in the RSX performance coupe, TSX, TL sedan, RL luxury sedan, and MDX SUV. By the middle of the decade, Acura had the ZDX, TSX wagon, and small crossover RDX. Notwithstanding the difficulties, Acura's automobiles continue to provide outstanding value, performance, and technology.

These days, Acura hardly resembles the Acura of the past—a luxury sports car manufacturer founded on Honda's reputation for dependability and engineering prowess. The Acura portfolio no longer explodes with blatantly fun-to-drive automobiles, but the Honda connection is still there. Rather, most of its products are really just upgraded Hondas. Its two crossover models are the three-row MDX and the little RDX. The TLX sedan, which comes with a Type S variant, will appeal to those seeking a vehicle that is more in line with the principles upon which Acura was established.
