2024 GMC HUMMER EV Overview

With up to 625 horsepower, the 2024 GMC Hummer EV is an electric supertruck that can be had in both WTF mode and a tri-motor all-wheel-drive setup. Although the car can reach 60 mph in 3.3 seconds, it has a less remarkable emergency stopping distance. The maximum driving range of the 570-hp dual-motor AWD variant is 381 miles with the Extreme Off-Road package, and 311 miles without it. A five-foot box, height-adjustable air suspension, rear-axle steering, and Super Cruise are standard on all Hummer EV pickups. There is also an SUV variant available. The 2024 Hummer EV pickup truck delivers unmatched performance on roads and terrain, despite its expensive price and amenities.

Cost and Selection of Items for Purchase

The 2024 GMC Hummer EV Pickup ranges in price from $98,845 to $106,945 according on the trim and extras. The Hummer EV3X is $8100 more expensive than the EV2X, but we would gladly pay the extra money for nearly twice as much power and the Watts to Freedom launch-control mode, which allows us to lift off like rocket ships and wow our friends. Tri-motor vehicles with 22-inch wheels and the basic battery are assessed by the EPA to have a 314-mile range; however, an additional optional extended-range battery unlocks an estimated 381-mile range. We would go for the Extreme Off-Road bundle over the larger pack. This reduces the estimated range to 298 miles but adds locking differentials, stronger axles, and 35-inch mud-terrain tires that can beadlocked.

EV Performance, Power, and Motor

Currently, the Hummer EV comes with two or three electric motors. All-wheel drive is available in both configurations; the tri-motor model has 1000 horsepower, while the dual-motor system has 570 horsepower. The latter was the Hummer EV Edition 1 that we drove; with its Watts to Freedom (WTF) launch control driving mode, it reached 60 mph in a just 3.3 seconds. It is therefore among the fastest pickups we have ever tested. Although its quickness amazed us, its braking performance let us down. The big vehicle required an extra-long 211 feet to slow down from 70 mph, and repeated runs resulted in visible brake wear. Whoa. Better than anticipated maneuverability at low speeds is a direct consequence of the Hummer EV's rear-wheel steering system, but once it's moving, it's just as difficult to maneuver as other elevated brodozers.

Battery life, charging time, and range

There are two battery sizes for the Hummer EV. An EPA-estimated driving range of 311 miles for the EV2X and 314 miles for the EV3X is offered by the basic 20-module pack. A 24-module battery that may be installed in the latter is said by GMC to provide a range of up to 381 miles. If you choose the Extreme Off-Road option, the estimated distance drops to 359 miles. On our 75 mph interstate route, the Hummer EV Edition 1 that we tested covered 290 kilometers on a single charge. It took more than two hours to fully charge the battery from 10% to 90%, and even though it was attached to a DC fast-charger, it only averaged 98 kW at its top charging rate of 287 kW. GMC asserts that the We required almost twice as long as the Hummer EV pickup, which can add 100 miles of range in only 10 minutes.

Cargo, Comfort, and Interior

Though the Hummer EV is essentially a crew-cab pickup truck with a five-foot-long bed, it is still primarily an SUV. The interior materials of the Hummer may be of superior quality given its price point and the fact that its cabin isn't as roomy as that of the GMC Sierra 1500 crew cabs. However, optional detachable roof panels that bring back the T-top-like styling common to GM sports and muscle vehicles in the 1970s and 1980s allow the cabin to be exposed to the weather. The clear panels resemble a standard panoramic glass sunroof when installed, but when removed and stored in the Hummer's front trunk, the vehicle takes on a convertible appearance reminiscent of the Jeep Gladiator. Inside, a few moon-inspired details—like speaker grilles that display the Sea of Tranquility and a moon-boot imprint on the dead pedal—act as unsubtle reminders of General Motors' association with NASA astronauts and the electrically powered Apollo 15 lunar rover, which the corporation assisted in designing.

Connectivity and Entertainment

The infotainment screen is a huge 13.4-inch display, and the digital instrument panel measures 12.3 inches. The makers of the hugely famous video game Fortnite, Epic Games, have been hired by GMC to design the infotainment system's visuals for the Hummer EV. Although the sophisticated visuals and high-resolution screen appear fantastic, we saw some noticeable latency, which may indicate that the machine lacks the processing capacity to keep up with the software's potential. Numerous connectivity options are included by default, such as wireless Apple's GM's OnStar telematics system, Wi-Fi hotspot, CarPlay, and Android Auto.

Features for Safety and Driver Assistance

Super Cruise, GM's basic hands-free driving option, functions rather well, in our opinion. There are also less sophisticated functions like blind-spot monitoring and lane-keeping assistance.

  • Typical automatic emergency braking that detects pedestrians
  • Regular lane-keeping assistance and lane-departure warning
  • Adaptive cruise control that is standard with hands-free driving

Coverage for Maintenance and Warranty

Similar to other General Motors vehicles, the Hummer EV is covered for three years and three6,000 miles on bumper-to-bumper and five years and 60,000 miles on the powertrain.

  • A limited warranty is valid for 36 months or 36 000 miles.
  • A powertrain warranty is valid for 60,000 miles or five years.
  • The warranty for hybrid parts is eight years or 100,000 miles.
  • Free maintenance is included on the initial visit.
