2024 Subaru Legacy Overview

The 2024 Subaru Legacy is easy to forget about, but not because it's one of Subaru's only non-SUV models; rather, it's due to its unmemorable driving characteristics. The Legacy is built on the same chassis as the well-liked Outback station wagon. It comes with a four-cylinder engine that is either normally aspirated or turbocharged, linked to an all-wheel drive system as standard. Though every other contemporary family vehicle has similar basic entertainment and driver assistance technologies, the Legacy is at least liberally supplied with them. We considerably like the more joyous driving manner of the Honda Accord, the styling of the Kia K5, or the Legacy if your automobile use case merely demands for easy commuting and subdued style.

Cost and Selection of Items for Purchase

The 2024 Subaru Legacy ranges in price from $26,015 to $39,285 according on the model and extras. A decent trade-off is made between price and features in the midrange Sport. Along with the more potent 260-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder, it also has a ton of extra cool stuff. A power sunroof, LED fog lights, a rear spoiler, blind-spot monitoring, keyless entry with push-button start, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with a compass, rear autonomous emergency braking, and cloth upholstery with red contrast stitching are all standard on the Sport. It also has 18-inch wheels.

Performance, Engine, and Transmission

Standard power comes from a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder, horizontally opposed engine with 182 horsepower. A 2.4-liter turbocharged engine producing 260 horsepower powers the Sport and Touring XT variants. Every Legacy model has a continuously variable automatic gearbox (CVT) and all-wheel drive. Now that we've tried both engines, we can see the benefits of a turbo. The non-turbo Sport took an unimpressive 8.0 seconds to reach 60 mph, but the Touring XT reached the mark in just 6.1 seconds. With a zero to sixty mile per hour pace of 5.7 seconds, the Sport with the optional turbo engine outscored the Touring XT in our test. Whatever engine is beneath the hood, the new Legacy offers a comparably smooth ride and marginally better handling qualities than the previous model.

Cargo, Comfort, and Interior

The Legacy's cabin seems far larger than that of the previous generation, especially in the back, despite the measurements maybe not reflecting this. Though it still leans toward dowdiness, the Legacy's interior is practical and made of high-quality materials. Standard upholstery is cloth, while the Limited and Touring variants, which are more expensive, contain leather. Long-legged purchasers may like the top trims' manual thigh extension for the driver's seat, which is a nice touch. The front seats are also nicely contoured and comfy. During our testing, the spacious trunk accommodated eight carry-on luggage, which is one more than the Accord and two more than the Camry.

Connectivity and Entertainment

A variant of Subaru's Starlink infotainment system with two 7.0-inch screens is used in base models. The company's most recent 11.6-inch vertically oriented infotainment display, which appears to have been lifted from a Volvo, is included on the one-rung-up Premium model. Standard features include Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connection. Additionally, all versions other than the basic Legacy lack in-dash navigation, which is included on the Limited and Touring XT variants exclusively. The base model has four speakers, the Premium trim has six speakers, and the highest trim level has a 12-speaker Harman/Kardon audio system.

  • Safety and Assistance for Drivers Features
  • Typical automatic braking in an emergency
  • Normal lane-departure alert with assistance for lane-keeping
  • Normal lane-centering adaptive cruise control

Guarantee and Upkeep Reportage

While simple, Subaru's standard warranty coverage is comparable to that of most competitors in its class.

  • A limited warranty is valid for 36 months or 36,000 miles.
  • A powertrain warranty is valid for 60,000 miles or five years.
  • No free planned maintenance

When compared to the typical new automobile, we predict that the 2024 Legacy's dependability will be around average.
