2024 Audi Q8 e-tron Sportback Overview

The luxurious SUV Audi Q8 e-tron from 2024 makes the switch to electric cars (EVs) simple. The powertrain is the sole difference between it and the rest of the premium automaker's portfolio in terms of design and general attitude. With its two electric motors, the Q8 e-tron can provide up to 402 horsepower and all-wheel drive. The Tesla Model X, Jaguar I-Pace, and BMW iX all have faster acceleration than the Model X. The SQ8 e-tron is a faster variant with 496 horsepower. There are two body types available for the Q8 e-tron: the sportier, fastback Q8 e-tron Sportback and the conventional Q8 e-tron. The battery pack in all body types offers a competitive real-world driving range and is swiftly rechargeable at a charging point accessible to the public.

What Is 2024 Bringing?

The Audi e-tron and e-tron Sportback SUVs have been rebranded as the Q8 e-tron and Q8 e-tron Sportback for 2024. The lighting, wheel styles, and grille of the SUVs have all been modified. With their new, bigger, 106.0-kWh battery pack, they can now go farther and compete better. A higher-performing S e-tron variant, the SQ8 e-tron, was available earlier.

Cost and Selection of Items for Purchase

We'll let you choose which Q8 body type best meets your needs, but we'd advise staying with the entry-level Premium models as they provide a full range of standard amenities at a fair price for a high-end electric SUV. With features like air suspension, adaptive cruise control, heated front seats with power adjustments, LED headlights, a panoramic sunroof, four-zone automatic temperature control, a heated steering wheel, and leather upholstery, the Premium trim is anything but basic.

EV Performance, Power, and Motor

There are two electric motors, one at the front axle and one at the back, hidden behind the deeply creased bodywork of the Q8 e-tron. The majority of the work is done by the rear motor, but they work together to offer electrical all-wheel drive. They produce a combined 355 horsepower and 414 pound-feet of torque under normal driving conditions. But 402 horsepower and 490 pound-feet of torque are momentarily unlocked when the transmission is in Sport mode. The Q8 e-tron impressed us during our test drive by being calm and quick. Its quiet, comfortable ride validated its luxury credentials, and its rapid acceleration is typical of electric cars. We timed the Sportback model's acceleration to 60 mph at our test track at 5.2 seconds.

Battery life, Charging Time, and Range

The Q8 e-tron's 106.0-kWh battery pack is rated by the EPA for up to 285 miles of driving range; the Sportback model is rated for up to 300 miles of driving range, but only if you order the Ultra package, which replaces the standard 19-inch wheels with more aerodynamic 19-inch wheels and an efficiency-tuned suspension. If the 300-mile projection turns out to be accurate, the Q8 e-tron Sportback's range estimate will be competitive when compared to competitors like the Model X and the I-Pace. With the 170-kW fast charger included with every e-tron, 80 percent of the battery can be refilled in roughly 30 minutes.

Cargo, Comfort, and Interior

The electrified systems of the Q8 e-tron are its most remarkable technological feature, but the five-seat crossover also has a modern and useful interior. Its dashboard is crammed with several high-resolution panels, including two flush-mounted touchscreens in the middle and Audi's Virtual Cockpit digital gauge cluster. Naturally, the Q8 e-tron's elegant interior is further enhanced with a range of high-end features including massaging front seats and a head-up display. The cabin also has a flat floor because of its neatly packed underfloor battery pack. This contributes to the spacious cargo room of the standard Q8 e-tron, which measures 29 cubic feet behind the back row and 57 with the seat backs folded flat. The Sportback's sloping roofline subtracts two from each of the values.

Connectivity and Entertainment

The infotainment system of each Q8 e-tron is operated by two touchscreens: an 8.6-inch screen underneath and a 10.1-inch screen above. The optional Bang & Olufsen music system and the standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto applications are accessible on the upper screen, while the bottom screen is mostly used to adjust the climate. The system has many power outlets as well as a Wi-Fi hotspot that requires a subscription; a wireless smartphone charger is an optional extra.

Features for Safety and Driver Assistance

Both Q8 e-tron body types come equipped with a variety of standard driver-assistance technologies from Audi, including self-parking assist and adaptive cruise control. Visit the websites of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for further details on the crash test results of the Q8 e-tron Sportback and SUV. Important safety characteristics consist of:

  • Automated emergency braking and standard forward-collision warning
  • Blind-spot detection and rear cross-traffic warning as standard
  • Normal lane-departure alert

Coverage for Maintenance and Warranty

Audi offers a powertrain warranty that is both competitive and ordinary. Competitive EV SUVs with basic warranty packages, like the BMW iX and the Jaguar I-Pace, come with long-term free scheduled maintenance plans.

  • A limited warranty is valid for 50,000 miles or four years.
  • Four years or 50,000 miles are covered by the powertrain warranty.
  • Eight years or 100,000 miles are covered for electrical components.
  • No free planned maintenance
