2024 Cadillac CT5 Overview

The entry-level Cadillac CT5 vehicles lack the driving enthusiasm we adore in that top-performance model, even though they are based on the same basis as the fierce CT5-V Blackwing (reviewed separately). We're still not sure why Cadillac opted not to utilize the full potential of the platform in the lower trim levels, even after the sedan's release four years ago. Every CT5 has an exterior of bluff charm. Approving the show demands a significant premium above the twin-turbo V-6 CT5-V, which is the second-best performance after the Blackwing. The remaining models in the CT5 series are less indulgent and more focused on comfort than on thrilling driving qualities. Compared to the basic non-V CT5s, competitors like the Mercedes-Benz C-class, the Genesis G70, and the BMW 3-series are more enjoyable to drive and more comfortable to sit in. However, the Caddy leads the pack in the technological race since it provides a hands-free driving technology that its competitors do not (yet). However, "V" is the letter to keep in mind if you're looking for energy, velocity, and dynamic virtuosity.

What Is 2024 Bringing?

For the CT5, there are two minor modifications. The first is Midnight Sky Metallic, a brand-new, expensive color. The second is that a black spoiler will be part of the Onyx Package, which includes dark accents and wheels. Since Cadillac is commemorating the V sub-brand's 20th anniversary, there is increased focus on the 2024 CT5-V. The limited-edition Black Diamond Tricoat, Velocity Red, Cyber Yellow Metallic, and Coastal Blue Metallic are the four new colors that have been added to the exterior color scheme. There will be 20th anniversary badging on the grille, rockers, and animated gauge cluster, among other things. A redesigned CT5 is anticipated to be on sale sometime in 2024 as a car for the 2025 model year.

Cost and Selection of Items for Purchase

The 2024 Cadillac CT5 ranges in price from $39,790 to $53,490, depending on the model and extras.

Performance, Engine, and Transmission

There is a 335-hp twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 engine option available for the CT5, however, the base engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 237 horsepower. The performance-focused CT5-V is equipped with an electronically controlled limited-slip differential, adjustable dampers, and a 360-hp twin-turbo V-6 engine. An automatic transmission with 10 speeds is matched with both engines. All-wheel drive is an optional feature; rear-wheel drive is the default. A rear-drive CT5 with the turbo four-cylinder sped up to sixty miles per hour in 6.6 seconds during our test drive. In 4.8 seconds, a rear-drive CT5-V reached 60 mph. In contrast, two of the CT5's main competitors, the BMW 330i and the Alfa Romeo Giulia Ti, finished the same test in 5.1 and 4.6 seconds, respectively.

Cargo, Comfort, and Interior

The previous CTS's most annoying interior design issues were fixed when Cadillac designers created the CT5's cabin. The controls on the new sports sedan are more easier to operate and navigate. Cadillac now has to fix the interior flaws in the CT5. The Cadillac's interior design and materials don't go well together—handsome open-pore wood next to inexpensive black plastic, for example—and they don't support the CT5's claim as a luxury product, even when taking into account the cheaper pricing when compared to European competitors. The back seat is roomier than it was in the previous CTS, surpassing the rear legroom of the Alfa Romeo Giulia and the aforementioned BMW 3-series by over three inches.

Connectivity and Entertainment

The most recent iteration of Cadillac's infotainment system is available on the 2024 Cadillac CT5, and it is centered on a 10.0-inch touchscreen in the dashboard. It replaces several of the touch-sensitive controls with physical ones and has a far more logical structure than the previous one. The touchscreen or a rotary wheel behind the shifter are the two ways you may use the device. Along with wireless phone charging and hotspot functionality, basic features include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Nice extras like a head-up display and a 12-inch digital gauge cluster that can be customized are included with the Lighting and Technology packages.

Features for Safety and Driver Assistance

Rear park assist, rear cross-traffic warning, and forward collision alert are standard on all trim levels of the vehicle. All trim levels save the basic have optional technology, such as GM's Super Cruise hands-free driving capability, which allows a driver to steer, accelerate, and brake a car on most highways without having to keep their hands on the wheel.

  • Typical automatic emergency braking that detects pedestrians
  • Normal lane-departure alert with assistance for lane-keeping
  • Adaptive cruise control with hands-free driving mode is available.

Coverage for Maintenance and Warranty

The German sports sedans are less generous with their warranties than the CT5, especially regarding the powertrain warranty, where the CT5 beats the Mercedes-Benz C-class and 3-series by two years or 20,000 miles.

  • A limited warranty is valid for 50,000 miles or four years.
  • The powertrain warranty lasts for 70,000 miles or six years.
  • Free maintenance is included on the initial visit.
