2024 Chevrolet Equinox Review and Specs
MSRP Range: $26,600 - $33,400
2024 Chevrolet Equinox Overview
Starting at $27,995
Because it is the most accessible and reasonably priced Chevrolet SUV—its base price is a little over $33,000—the Equinox is the best-selling model. A 175-hp turbo four with an unimpressive automated gearbox and an optional all-wheel-drive system is available in the 2024 model. In comparison to its competitors, the Equinox rides and drives well despite having a weak engine. Its materials and interior design are uninspired, but its entertainment system and plenty of passenger room make up for it. It's a decent choice for anybody looking for a bow-tie emblem even if it's not a competitor in the competitive SUV segment.
Cost and Selection of Items for Purchase
Depending on the specifications and extras, the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox may cost anywhere from $27,995 to $33,195. We would choose the mid-grade RS model over the top-of-the-line Premier, even if the Equinox portfolio includes a value-packed base LS model. Among its standard features are blind-spot monitoring, dual-zone temperature control, heated front seats, a power liftgate, leather-wrapped steering wheel, rear cross-traffic warning, and remote start. Although the Confidence and Convenience packages may be added to an LT to provide comparable content, we believe the RS's darker trim justifies the RS's higher price.
Performance, Engine, and Transmission
The only engine available for the Equinox is a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that is underpowered and frequently out of breath. Its plodding performance is unlikely to win over any admirers. With its 175 horsepower engine and the heavier optional all-wheel drive system (front-wheel drive is standard), the Equinox requires a strong foot to accelerate to highway speeds. The six-speed automatic transmission changes smoothly, but because it is designed to save gasoline, it is hesitant to downshift when more power is required. Our most recent test vehicle, an RS variant with all-wheel drive, took 8.0 seconds to reach 60 mph on our test track. The Equinox is a smooth, easy-to-drive vehicle with decent handling and direct, precise steering. The journey can be a little harsh at times, especially with the optional 19-inch wheels (17s are standard), and the interior feels a little uncomfortable on bumpier sections of the road. Chevy is also capable of towing up to 3500 pounds.
Cargo, Comfort, and Interior
The cabin of the Equinox is well-designed and composed of sturdy materials. With enough amenities to keep them happy on longer excursions, the roomy cabin should make both front and back-seat passengers feel comfortable. There are several cupholders in the cabin, however the majority of interior amenities are either standard on RS and Premier versions or available as optional extras on LT variants. Even though other competitors have greater room behind the back seats, we were still able to accommodate eight carry-on bags in that area. Except for a large center-console storage bin, the cabin storage on the Equinox could be better.
Connectivity and Entertainment
Above the dash of the Equinox, a 7.0-inch touchscreen (an 8.0-inch model is available) showcases Chevrolet's MyLink infotainment interface, which keeps improving with each usage thanks to its snappy reactions and ease of use. Along with a USB connection, Bluetooth phone, and music streaming, an aux input port, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard features. A Wi-Fi hotspot that requires a subscription is also available with every Equinox.
