2024 Ford Mustang Mach E Review and Specs
MSRP Range: $43,495 - $49,995
2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E Overview
A battery-electric crossover incorporating elements of the 50-year-old Mustang coupe is the 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E. It is a swift, potent, and stylish family vehicle available in some trim levels, such as the feature-rich Premium, range-leader California Route 1, GT, and entry-level Select. Despite not being as sophisticated as the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the Mach-E has a luxurious cabin equipped with Ford's newest technologies. The GT Performance Edition can hit 60 mph in 3.7 seconds, trailing only the genuine Mustang Shelby GT500 by a few seconds, and most trims can go more than 250 miles on a single charge.
Cost and Selection of Items for Purchase
Price estimates for the 2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E range from $45,390 to $67,000, depending on the specification and extras. The Mach-E to get is the Premium model. Compared to the less expensive Select trim, this trim adds some significant luxury, such as a few amenities that aren't accessible on the more costly and potent California Route 1. With the extended-range battery and rear-wheel drive, Ford claims the Premium can go 310 miles on a single charge. However, we still recommend opting for the all-wheel drive option, although it reduces the expected range to 290 miles.
EV Performance, Power, and Motor
Either a standard-range (70.0 kWh) or an extended-range (91.0 kWh) battery pack is available for the Mustang Mach-E. These power one electric motor per axle in AWD versions of all four trims, or one motor per axle in RWD versions of the Select and Premium. 480 horsepower and up to 634 pound-feet of torque are produced by those motors together in the ultimate GT and GT Performance Edition variants, which are the only ones with AWD. A Mach-E GT Performance reached 60 mph in 3.7 seconds during our testing. Rear-wheel drive versions with lower power outputs provide 266 or 290 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. The AWD trim levels under the GT pair and California Route 1 range from 266 to 346 horsepower and 427 or 428 pound-feet of torque. When we recently tested the extended-range AWD Mach-E, we discovered that the Ford was faster and more fun to drive than the majority of its competitors. Beyond the range of power options, we believe that buyers will like the Mach-E's feature set, quiet operation, and comfortable ride.
Battery life, charging time, and range
Ford switched to new battery chemistry in 2023 for select Mach-E grades that used the standard-sized, smaller battery pack. Depending on the size of the battery pack and the number of electric motors, the EPA-estimated range for the complete series is between 224 and 312 miles on a single charge. Although that isn't nearly as amazing as the Tesla models with the longest range, the range is comparable to crossovers from other big manufacturers. Fast charging is included in every Mach-E, and Ford claims that the mobile home charging device that is provided may add "up to 30 miles of range per night" when connected into a 120-volt household outlet. The transportable unit can refuel to a maximum of 80% when plugged into a 240-volt outlet.
Cargo, Comfort, and Interior
Excellent room for passengers and goods is created by the Mustang Mach-E's battery, which is positioned skateboard-style between the bottom of the vehicle and the interior floor. The sleek dashboard has a large, vertically oriented touchscreen and an eye-catching digital gauge cluster. A handbag can fit in the compartment located beneath the armrest that flips up and floats between the front seat occupants. The load bay provides 29 cubic feet of cargo space behind the back seats, or up to 60 cubic feet when the back seats are folded. Stylish standard and optional amenities include a panoramic sunroof, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, wireless charging, adjustable ambient inside lighting, and a hard plastic-lined front trunk.
Connectivity and Entertainment
Machine learning is used by Ford's next-generation Sync infotainment system to completely personalize every driver's experience. It can accommodate one guest and three driver profiles at the moment. The software on the Mustang Mach-E is operated by a 15.5-inch touchscreen that is positioned vertically, making it simple to access the system's many functions and programs. Ford will provide over-the-air upgrades for the system, which will enhance it over time and allow for the continuous addition of new material. A mobile Wi-Fi hotspot, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and, depending on the trim level, a Bang & Olufsen audio system are among the best amenities.
