The seventh-generation muscle car is revolutionizing for the year with some significant changes, revised chassis hardware, and an all-new interior with improved performance. The new generation is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 engine that delivers an output of 480 horsepower. It has a 2.3-liter Ecoboost engine with an optional V8, 315 horsepower, and a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The updated Dark Horse model has standard 19-inch Pirelli P Zero PZ4s with an optional Handling package that Ford replaces rubber with sticker Pirelli Trofeo RS tires. The four-cylinder Mustang offers 22 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. The Dark Horse edition model delivers 14 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the road.
