2024 Bmw 2 Series Review and Specs
MSRP Range: $38,400 - $51,700
2024 BMW 2 Series Overview
In the market for small luxury cars, BMW continues to be the only manufacturer offering a coupe. The 2-series's agile handling, precise steering, and strong brakes make for an enjoyable driving experience—even though the newest generation's style has proven to be divisive. For these reasons, we've included it in our list of 2024 Editors' Choice vehicles. There are two engine options: the M240i has a turbocharged inline-six engine that produces 382 horsepower, while the 230i has a turbocharged inline-four engine that shares power with the Toyota Supra 2.0. Although the manual gearbox is no longer an option, both powertrain combinations may be configured with either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. In addition to its impressive off-road capabilities, the 2-series has a high-end interior and is reasonably priced, at least regarding the 230i model.
What Is 2024 Bringing?
The fast two-door BMW 2-series remains unaltered for 2024 despite receiving a complete makeover for 2022 and the addition of a curved digital instrument cluster for 2023.
Cost and Selection of Items for Purchase
The 2024 BMW 2-series ranges in price from $39,795 to $52,695, depending on the specification and extras.
Performance, Engine, and Transmission
The 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder 230i produces 255 horsepower, while the 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six M240i has 382-hp. Both the 230i and M240i come with rear- and all-wheel drive options. There is just an eight-speed automatic available for transmission. The 230i completed a quarter-mile at 101 mph in 13.7 seconds and 60 mph in 5.1 seconds during our test. The M Sport and Dynamic Handling packages, which combined include 19-inch wheels on performance tires, a sportier suspension, upgraded brakes, a variable-ratio steering system, and an electronically controlled rear differential, are what drivers hoping to get the most performance out of the 230i should choose. With the M240i, the majority of these features and more are standard.
Cargo, Comfort, and Interior
BMW's interior design language isn't revolutionary, but the exceptional build quality and pleasing ergonomics make it better. The new 2-series interior takes on the appearance and layout that is widely used by the firm. Although a set of analog gauges comes standard, there is also a 12.3-inch completely digital instrument panel and a head-up display optional. All we wanted was for the front chairs to feel more cushioned. Additionally, the back seat of the coupe is narrower and has less headroom and legroom than the model it replaces, even with an increase in total length and breadth, including a wheelbase that is elongated by 2.0 inches.
Connectivity and Entertainment
The infotainment system of the 2-series is controlled via a conventional 8.8-inch touchscreen or an optional 10.3-inch one. In addition to voice commands and steering-wheel controls, the interface may be operated using a rotary controller located on the center console, which is encircled by practical shortcut buttons. Additionally, BMW graciously provides a tactile volume knob. All models come equipped with a 10-speaker audio, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a Wi-Fi hotspot that requires a subscription. A 14-speaker, 464-watt Harman Kardon system is an upgrade option for those seeking a more potent sound system.
Features for Safety and Driver Assistance
Not only does the 2-series come equipped with blind-spot monitoring among other standard driver-assistance features, but it also has front and rear parking sensors. Additionally, a self-parking assist option is available, which will autonomously park it in or out of parallel or perpendicular spaces.
- Automated emergency braking and standard forward-collision warning
- Regular lane-keeping assistance and lane-departure warning
- Stop-and-go technology combined with adaptive cruise control is available.
Guarantee and Upkeep Reportage
BMW offers competitive limited and powertrain warranties when compared to other luxury car manufacturers, however, Mercedes-Benz does not provide any complimentary maintenance.
- A limited warranty is valid for 50,000 miles or four years.
- Four years or 50,000 miles are covered by the powertrain warranty.
- Free planned maintenance is provided for three years or thirty thousand kilometers.
