The 523-hp X6 M60i may make louder noises and accelerate with more courage, but we don't think the enormous price difference is justified. We would continue to use the six-cylinder X6 40i instead. We would go for the M Sport option, which comes with a sportier suspension, an improved exhaust system, a sleeker body kit and external decor, and a special steering wheel.

All-wheel drive and the same gearbox are present in the M60i, but its 4.4-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine produces a lot more power. At our test track, its 523 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque allowed it to reach 60 mph in a mere 3.8 seconds. The fact that the X6 M is faster and can produce up to 617 horsepower is even more astonishing. Even so, the regular six-cylinder engine is incredibly smooth and quick.
