2024 Bmw X7 Review and Specs
MSRP Range: $81,900 - $149,400
2024 BMW X7 Overview
Starting at $82,895
Top-of-the-line full-size luxury SUV for 2024, the BMW X7 has a split headlamp design that divides opinion. It has great handling and engines, including the 375-horse straight-six and the 630-horse twin-turbo V-8 reserved for the Alpina XB7, despite its initial price of $83K. A tranquil interior and a cloud-like ride are provided by the standard air suspension and all-wheel drive. Modern features and opulent materials guarantee that the X7 surpasses expectations, making it a great pick for anyone seeking an opulent SUV.
Cost and Selection of Items for Purchase
We would still suggest the X7 xDrive40i despite our liking for the twin-turbo V-8's horsepower and impressive performance. Among its many appealing standard features are heated front seats, a power tailgate, power-adjustable front seats with memory settings, a panoramic sunroof, and four zones of climate control. In addition, we would add the Premium package with gesture controls, soft-close doors, and a head-up display. We would also add one of the Vernasca leather upholstery options.
Performance, Engine, and Transmission
A 375-hp turbocharged inline six-cylinder powers the base X7 xDrive40i, while a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 producing 523 horsepower powers the M60i. This V-8 has been fine-tuned to produce 630 horsepower in the Alpina XB7. All three engines come with all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The xDrive40i was not far behind, reaching 60 mph in only 4.6 seconds, but the sporty-looking M60i variant we drove was quicker, reaching 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds. Every X7 has an air suspension system with adjustable dampers, and the chassis can be improved even more with optional rear-axle steering and body motion-reducing active anti-roll bars. On the M60i, which has a sportier suspension configuration, both functions are standard.
Cargo, Comfort, and Interior
The X7's dashboard is dominated by a large, somewhat curved digital display within. The infotainment system functions through a 14.9-inch touchscreen on the panel, which also features a 12.3-inch gauge cluster for the driver. Inside, there are many more opulent amenities like ambient interior lighting, a panoramic sunroof, a power-adjustable steering wheel, and heated front seats. But we found it annoying that the captain's chair in the second row, which was powered, moved so slowly when we tried to shift passengers into and out of the third row. Similarly, the rear seats aren't very spacious for larger individuals on lengthy road trips. Even so, nobody will be dissatisfied with the X7's generous internal cubby storage. Even though we could only accommodate three carry-on bags past the third row.
Connectivity and Entertainment
The 14.9-inch touchscreen of the X7's iDrive infotainment system is located in the curved glass panel above the dashboard. In addition, there is a sizable rotary knob in the center console for operating the system, and there are also rather pointless gesture controls. Every X7 is equipped with BMW's Digital Key, which enables customers to remotely operate car functions via a smartphone app, in addition to a Wi-Fi hotspot (subscription needed). Optional features include wireless charging and a more powerful Harman/Kardon audio.
Features for Safety and Driver Assistance
Every X7 is equipped with several basic and enhanced driver-assistance technologies.
- Automated emergency braking and standard forward-collision warning.
- Blind-spot detection and rear cross-traffic warning as standard.
- Normal lane-departure alert
